Mermaids are the product of people crossbreeding with fish. It is good that she died. Nothing good can come from crossbreeding with fish.

Not so Hobo, The mighty whale came from the interbreeding of a hippo and a fish, didn’t it? I need to check up on my theistic understanding of Evolution – Maybe www.creationmuseum.org has the answer.
