Come Sail Away With Me.
They walked together, hand in hand, down the beach. Neither said a word, simply taking in the surroundings, the sounds, the smells, everything they could possibly remember. They didn’t look at one another, they had plenty of time for that.
He was thinking about what they would do once they got there, & if he would be able to contact everyone once they got there.
She was thinking about her parents faces when she told them the news, & if she’d ever see them again, along with her friends.
They reached the pier when the sun began to dip below the clouds. Each took one last long look at the town they grew up in, for they knew they would never see it again. He climbed into the small sailboat, helping her in. They checked to make sure their belongings were in place, tied down & covered with tarp to keep the moisture out.
They pushed away from the dock, their destination unknown.
