The Closet, Part 4
The closet door flung open and she was caught sitting on the floor with the file in her lap. Emma and the twins fled the room crying hysterically. She was suddenly angry.
“Why didn’t you tell me?!” She screamed at him, jumping up and flinging the file into his face.
“How dare you question me!” He screamed back.
The picture of her mother floated to the floor. He raised his meaty arm and she cringed, but he didn’t hit her. He grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the floor. “Is this what you wanted to see?” He rifled through the papers and shoved one in her face. Through her tears she read “July 7, 1993. Patient X threatened to drink poison to kill her baby. Not the first threat but the most direct. Must be placed under care. Taking her into the house for 24 hr watch.”
“She never wanted you, you ungrateful child.” He released her hair and she realized he was crying too.
They heard a choking sob from the doorway and turned to see Rob standing there, with a gun. “Get away from her.”
