Observation VI
I loved the drawing. I took it home with me and put it on the wall beside the coffee pot, so that I saw it every morning before I went to work. I never had someone who liked me enough to put my likeness on paper, even though I’d been with tons of guys and girls before. I waited and waited for him to come back into the cafe, but he never did. It took me two weeks before I called him, but he didn’t answer.
“Nate Sanders? It’s the girl from the cafe.”
I was actually a little glad that he didn’t pick up. I wouldn’t have known what to say if he did. Besides, I had to see him again. I didn’t want to just talk to him. He had to be flesh and blood before me. I wanted to see his reactions, the way he looked at me as we spoke together. What would we even speak about? I had no idea, but just to be with him would have been enough.
“I’ll be working tomorrow. If you can, come by at about noon.”
