What happens in a year? I would soo sneak that fool! This is one of those poems that really says it all about a specific type of experience that a lot of people have had…In my head the very beginning cliff scene was all anime style. Very good work.
Hmm…I’m not sure if the shorthand spelling is intentional or not but it kind of renders the poem ineffective. The topic as well as the tone is serious but you can’t really take a poem that isn’t spelled correctly serious unless it was used as an instrument to the piece.
Also, there are a few rhyme schemes about, mostly in the beginning of the poem. I think the simple rhymes make it a bit more juvenile than it could/should be.
Other than that, it’s a nice piece and it feels real. :]
I like the shorthand. It definitely renders the story in a modern texting motif. I also appreciate (while lamenting at the same time) the frustration expressed. Having BEEN one of the boring boys that the girls never looked at, I can only quote the ancient Chinese curse, paraphrased for the teen milieu.
“May you date interesting men.”
But people change. Maybe in a year, it won’t be you walking off a cliff because he steps away, for good or ill.
