A nicely done summation of how things are going for the human race. It kind of reverses a few things from the preceding story (him and his shoes being the only things left, and the direction of Mars’ travels).

i think i am going to follow this path but i do hate when people rewrite or write AROUND you but i like where its going i think.

Yeah, I understand not liking when people write around you, I just felt that the whole “Earth explodes” scenario could have so much more depth than a single survivor.

Well, the two are not necessarily contradictory. If one takes the concept of an unreliable narrator (or at least one working with only Bob’s current fact set), it could be seen to work. In all the rush he might have forgotten about who else was out there, not on the Earth.

Alternatively, one could take “all that was left of the Earth” to mean “all that was left of the stuff on the Earth at the time of the event, and not elsewhere in the Solar System.”

Ergo, mutual exclusivity does not exist.
