Remembrance

She walked into the room and began speaking without looking at him. If she looked into his eyes she might lose her nerve.

“We’ve been together for a while now, and I know you think it’s time we made a commitment to each other. I know I’ve been hesitant to discuss this in the past because I’ve been hurt before. But now I know you’re the one. I’m not afraid anymore. I could never be afraid of anything ever again as long as I’m with you. And I know you feel the same because of all the countless times you’ve told me and I shied away. No more. This is it. So, I’m ready. I’m ready for happily ever after. Let’s get married.”

“I’m sorry… do I know you?”
