MAMA SAID SO (Part 2)
She was lying in bed, barely coherant. Weak and unable to respond to anything that was administered to her by her doctor.
“She is dying,” my sister softly said to me. “Soon you will no longer hear her laugh, see her smile….” her voice trailed off as the flatlined signal on the heart monitor went off.
I walked away emotionless, empty, lost. I lost my mother to cancer. The overwhelming dread of continuing on without her was enveloping me quickly. I knew I had to get out and get fresh air.
I raced out the doors and stopped only after I got across the street to the park. Only then did I rest and allow myself to calm down.
It was then I heard the birds as they sang the song my mother loved to sing. I felt the wind softly blowing on my face simulating my mother’s kisses, the clouds making the formation of her beautiful smiling face.
She is here, and she always will be with me.
