I love the sand in the pajamas, that put me in the scene! The stream of consciousness writing is a great move here. And the best part, you can’t live without pen and paper!

A good stream-of-consciousness piece – definitely hitting thoughts as they’d occur to you in the moment. It’s not about where you are, it’s not about how you’re gonna survive – but it’s about that most personal element to you. In college, when I got hauled onto a gurney for a hospital trip, I made the EMTs get my watch. :D
