A Love That Lasts A Lifetime
We had a love that would last a lifetime. I met Keith while he was a grad student and I was a junior. He was smart, funny, and had brown eyes that made me melt. We talked about marriage and kids. I wanted three and he kept on saying. “yeah, one of each”. That made me laugh. I couldn’t imagine my life without him. I loved him so.
When he applied for Prometheus, I didn’t know how much of a rival that would be to our love.
He dreamed of going to the stars since he was a kid. I thought what we had together would compensate for letting go of that dream. When he told me he had applied for flight crew, I was crushed. When he was accepted, I felt like I died. He tried to justify his going as destiny, the “Great Adventure”. All I could see was his leaving me. He tried to tell me that I would forget him. How can you forget the one true love of your life? You can’t. All you can do is let him go, and let him live his dream.
We had a love that would last a lifetime. And it did. I couldn’t ever stop loving.
