Unnoticed
“We better get the hell out of here,” Shawn said, nervously looking around.
Matt said nothing as he followed to the truck. They drove back to the house in silence. As expected, the party was still booming. Just as Matt was about to open the door, Shawn stopped him. He looked down, slowly stroking his chin.
“Now,” he said in deep thought, “We can’t have anyone knowing we know anything.” I smirk emerged on his face. “If you say a word…I’ll kill you.”
When they entered the house, nobody even noticed they had left. Several people were passed out, sprawled across the couches and chairs. Shawn went into the kitchen and came back out with a beer in his hand. He went over to a friend and began making small talk. Matt was left still standing at the front door.
Erica was on her way to the kitchen when she stopped upon seeing Matt.
“What’s up with you?”
He shook his head and forced a smile. “Nothing.”
She gave him a questioning look, and then moved on, seeming not to care.
