Just out of curiosity, is the Captain a member of this religion or not?

It probably doesn’t matter, maybe. I was leaning towards “no” but I never even intended to give the Captain a name. It is a generation ship after all, so there will be more than one captain. Actually, it seems fairly likely that eventually a religious captain will be elected or appointed.
