Twelve Steps to Happiness
“OK,” the leader said. “Now that everyone’s introduced themselves, let’s begin with our prayer.”
The group said, almost at once: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the person that I can, and the wisdom to know that it is me.”
Aurelia said, “Step one: We admitted powerlessness over our addiction.”
Seth said, “We believe that a greater power will restore us to sanity.”
“We turned our lives to the care of God,” Alice said.
“We made a moral inventory of ourselves,” Lou said.
Eric said, “We admit the nature of our wrongs.”
Lisa said, “We’re ready to have God remove defects of character.”
“We humbly ask God to remove our shortcomings,” Ann said.
“We listed those hurt by our addiction,” Tia said.
Dawn said, “We make amends wherever possible.”
Rose said, “We admit it our wrongs.”
“We seek to improve contact with God, praying to carry out His will,” Mike said.
“We resolve to practice these principles in all our affairs,” Dave finished.
