hey ar this completely proves the reason that a god made us so diverse: I am a jew and am often embarrassed to be an american actually i am moving out of the country in march, but i still think your writing is amazing. you really do rock despite your religion and geographical handicaps. lol just messin wit ya…but seriously lol

Originally I meant Hobson’s Choice as the name of one of the ficlets to describe the predicament that faced the unnamed captain. I originally thought of it as kind of being forced to choose between two undesirable alternatives. I have since discovered that a Hobson’s choice is more of a kind of take it or leave it kind of thing.

In Minutes lasting hours I named the captain as marshall, but it seems that hobson has now become his nom de guerre. I will edit the previous story to reflect this.

By the way I envisioned the captain as being about 40 at the start of the mission, and now 20+ years have past. I hope that I was clear in “minutes” that his family did not “make the cut” for selection and he wanted to join them.

I’ve enjoyed contributing to this story and want to see how it continues.

@Radical Yellow Duck: Thank you! Also, my apologies. I did not intend to redact your naming of the Captain. I, in my ignorance of what the term “Hobson’s choice” meant, managed to get my wires crossed with regards to his name. I did, however, understand the intimations communicated in “Minutes.”

I have enjoyed the pattern it has been taking as well as contributing to it myself.
