Blood curdling
Well, most of them froze. Vlad took two more steps before he noticed that the others had stopped. “What is it?” he asked.
“Didn’t you hear that scream?” asked Beth, incredulous.
“Yes. It came from ahead of us.”
“So why are you still walking towards it?”
The screaming continued ahead. “Shamblers don’t scream like that.” Vlad turned and continued towards the shrieks, which now were joined by the shouts of men giving panicked orders, their words garbled by the trees. Heavy thumps reverberated through the ground to the four of them as they reached the tree line at the edge of the park. They could no longer hear the screams and shouts.
