Just Another Fight
I collapsed on my bed in exhaustion. It was never just my family.
I heard a knock on the door and muttered, ‘Go away,’ into my pillow. The door creaked open and I felt a new weight on the bed.
“Sorry,” Drae whispered. I peeked out from under my pillow and was shocked to see he really was sorry. He seriously thought my parents and I were going to get along just like that. I mean, I know the kid lives in a fairytale world but that doesn’t mean the Happy Ever Afters are that easy.
I sighed and decided to let the poor delusioned kid off the hook. “It’s not your fault, Drae. It’s mine.” I grudgingly sat up and rested my pillow on my lap. Drae hesitantly smiled at me and I grinned back.
Another timid knock on my door preceded our decrepit butler’s entrance. “Dinner is served in the main hall,” he wheezed before leaving. I sighed and rolled off the bed with a look at Drae.
“C’mon. Time for Round two.”
