The project

“You would think writing one line everyday wouldn’t be that hard,” she mumbled with her pen poised above her notebook. It always amazed her how she’d say and genuinely want to write more but faced with her notebook, her eyes would immediately drift somewhere else. She’d started a new project for herself. A week ago, she had decided she would write at least a line everyday. Ideally, she would write a paragraph a day. It could be about anything. She had given herself permission to write the worst lines and paragraphs since the point was just to get writing everyday. But, alas, she couldn’t seem to manage one measly line a day, never mind a paragraph, due to frequent forgetting. When she did manage to remember, nothing came to her. She didn’t even feel compelled to write about her lack of words and it was immensely frustrating. She did have useful musings about life in general. But it wasn’t the same as seeing a perfectly clear scene in her head or figuring out a wonderful sentence and needing to write it down.
