I am giving you five pencils but my face is squanched up about it this was really good.

This story was inspired by my reread of ‘The Highwayman’ a few years ago. I first read it in high school, and, of course, thought it was romantic and spooky. Then, when I read it again a decade later with a little more life behind me, what I found myself focusing on was not the story of the highwayman himself, but the story of Bess and her sacrifice.

That’s the difference a decade makes, at least for this one thing.
