Took me to the second read-through to get it, and that was lovely. I really like it starts as a testament to the depths of potential human depravity and winds up at the complete other side of the spectrum with a very ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ sort of end.

Works pretty well psychologically, but I’ve seen a fair number of these potential “what-if” killing stories, so I can’t approach like it’s brand new. Still (and I know that made virtually no sense the way it was written), the story’s pretty good.

I’d change the 2nd sentence to the sound was also definitely a voice, or some other word that works. Saying voice twice loses its effect.
