The Last Night Of Normality

Nightfall appeared to creep in with a more lethargic approach than usual. The sun now fading at the horizon line, cast a magnificent golden aura on everything it touched, before finally retreating for another day.

It seemed to David that the road he was walking was somehow longer than it had been in the past. He had been walking the same path now for the majority of his life, and although it felt like much longer, this was only seventeen years. The memories evoked from treading this path were unimaginably vivid to David. More than once he found himself stopping as a memory would materialise in front of his eyes, almost as if he could touch it.

Many memories brought a smile to David, sometimes a smile on his face, other times a deeper inner smile from within his chest. A flicker above brought David back to reality, a street lamp standing by him buzzed into life. After taking a look his watch, David looked up to the orange glow of the street light and felt the first rain drops sprinkle on to his face.
