Great note. It really hints at a lot. I loved the line about having common sense, as if the writer knows that is going to be one of the first accusations out of the reader’s mouth. The line that starts, ‘Although unlike me…’ was a little awkward to read. I eventually got what you meant, but I think it has to do with grammatically what the clause would be attached to not lining up with what you meant (clause modifies ‘circumstances’, which are of course not like the person, being circumstances and not people, though you meant it’s unlike the writer to be led to do something like this).
