I agree with this to some extent, although I wish it wasn’t really this way. I believe people have the potential to set standards and make their own path, in which others will follow. But this makes me wonder if that’s just wishful thinking and if we’re all destined to be owners of “recycled” thoughts and ideas.
i agree there has to be someone to set the standards. we’re all different don’t get me wrong, but i guess essentially we’re the same. If you catch my flow.
listen here tad. i know we’re all doing our own things and i’m having fun living my life whether i set standards or not. I know you will too. we can still be unique without setting standards I know that.
One of the oldest pieces of literature we have is some ancient Egyptian heiroglyphics where the writer laments that there are no original ideas left to write. So yeah, this was really unoriginal, which obviously was the point. I just can’t figure out if that deserves pencils or not, so here’s 3.
Most of humanity strives be just a little different, but not too much. Kind of different numbers on the same team jersy.
I used to go to a coffee house near Yale. There you got to see all the college kids trying so hard to be different from society that they were all the same. It was almost impossible to find someone who wasn’t wearing SOMETHING that was black.
I found it hard to believe in the “starving artists” who’s parents were shelling out 40K+ a year for them to go to Yale.
I think king missile said," I want to assert my individuality, along with others asserting theres in nthe exact same way." Hey sneaky note me if you want some info on the league lol..Wink…draws secret code in the dirt…wink..lol
noncomformity in its own sense IS conformity, as long as the noncomformist is aware of his “noncomformity.” striving to be different is just being a conformist.
This reminds me of the debate over whether or not knowledge pre-exists, waiting to be discovered, or if we create kowledge out of our own reality. I like the idea that we share a pre-existing knowledge, from which we have the opportunity to make something of our own. The material may not be original, but the end product is all our own, while at the same time we can all share a common point of departure.
