haha that’s funny how it’s like a whole “situation” when the coffee maker breaks. I’d probably break the coffee maker myself if it meant someone would offer to get Starbucks. Mocha Frappuccinos are happiness in a cup <3

I know this is part of a series (which i’ve yet to go back and read), but this is a very good stand-alone story.

personally, i could never go to starbucks. Too expensive a price for a burned-tasting cup of coffee…
BUT — the story is great…

Very silly but does drive home the idea of an idyllic environment and what happens when that is disrupted.

nice gesture, but how will this suggestion be taken, and how will they solve the problem? staying tuned..

Working in an office where the coffee maker (on our half of the floor) broke, and seeing the reaction of the employees who learned they’d have to go to one of the other 5 coffee machines in the office, I have to say that this story is completely grounded in reality.

Except for the Starbucks offer.

Well, originally, I had in mind the big vats of brewed stuff you can buy at ’Bux and most other coffee places that are intended for large gatherings, etc. (I know because of my learnings… and some stints as a receptionist and having to order breakfast for early meetings.)

But hey, if you can pass out lattes to everyone, that’s cool, too! :D

I love that this chapter adds some depth to the protagonist. Nice to know that s/he is not purely a skeptical, paranoid archetype, but has a generous side as well. A nice stroke of humanity.
