I really like the voice you use. It seems that most entries on Ficly are built more around using powerful language and elaborate structure than telling a story, presumably due to the the short format (I know that I’m definitely guilty of at least trying to do this). On the other hand, the style here is light and refreshingly easy to read – the plot does the punching rather than the language.

This is the first of yours that I’ve read – I’ll have to check out some others.

Lovely bit of story. I really like all the layering (the picture is mentioned before it’s explained, the teen novel mirroring the teen plot, etc.).
