Opposite Directions
She looked around curiously. Where did he go? she asked herself. She began to walk toward the house, hoping to catch a glimpse.
Suddenly, he walked out of the house- this time, he waved and said “Hey Avery!”
Flustered, she stuttered “Uh hey, C-Carter!”
“I haven’t seen you in a year, literally! How have you been?” he enquired, walking toward her with that smile of his.
" I’ve been great – amazing, in fact! Everything has been just swell!" Oh my Gosh, did I just say ‘swell’?! she asked herself, beginning to blush. “What about you?” She quickly said, trying to regain her dignity that was smeared by the word ‘swell’
He laughed and said “I’ve been quite swell myself actually!”
She stared at him- it was that smile that had gotten her the first time she met him in fifth grade – that smile that gave her butterflies, but now it was that smile that made her want to walk away quickly. “Well, that’s great but I’ll leave you to your unpacking!” She said, walking in the opposite direction.
