“What the heck is up with your radio?” José asked as he and Bobby pulled up to a red light.
“I don’t know!” Bobby said, switching the dial. He heard static. Now and then an occasional station came in, but the one to which they had been listening had suddenly and mysteriously dropped out.
“How could KAMP cut out?” José complained.
They felt a slight rumble from beneath their feet.
“Maybe it was an earthquake, man,” Bobby suggested.
“Eh, I don’t know.”
The two drove on.
