Woot! A poem with a rhyme scheme! And an (almost) iambic trimeter! A little tweaking, and you’d have your own ballad (ballads go 8 beats, 6 beats, same rhyme scheme as you’ve got).
The last two lines, for some reason, reminded me of a quote I found recently that goes something like this: No one knows the age of the human race, but everyone agrees that it’s old enough to know better.
As for general ignorance, I see that as the “easy way out”… out of what, I have no clue. Knowledge is “dangerous” to a degree, but personally I’d rather know and have to cope than be blithe, as in both ignorant and blissful.
Oh, and the poem was good… would’ve had to have been, to get me thinking this much at this late hour.
