‘Waxing’ and ‘waning’ refer to a motion, either growing more full or shrinking towards the new moon. It’s tough to capture such motion with a hairstyle. I’m guessing that you meant ‘crescent’ versus ‘gibbous’ but hairstylists aren’t known for their astronomy, so I concede the look could very well actually be called ‘waxing moon.’
Time to go read the rest of the series, this entry showed a nice little scene.
True. I’ll have to check that – I’ve always thought waxing/waning as far as the moon went referred to its shape as well as its changing state – looks like I’ll have to do a bit more research in the future. :P Thanks for the info! (If I can fit it, I’ll edit – I was right at 0 characters left!)
Waxing and waning does refer to which side of the full moon it’s on, but gibbous goes refer to a shape, that goofy one between full and crescent. Moon references aside, I thought was a lovely moment of female thinking and personal habits/traits vs. cultural norms.
