The Sands Of Time - pt. 6 - The Admiral is always right.
All of the refuges had been safely transported to Dione, and Dr. Wilson was conducting an autopsy on one of the Neptunions. Preparations on the terraforming of Mars were on schedule to begin phase one in less than two days. ‘This Neptunion involvement bothers me.’ the admiral thought to himself.
The president didn’t seem as concerned.
“Calm down, admiral. The Neptunion threat has been eliminated by lieutenant Lawton. And because of their reckless attempt to get into Dione, we can finally figure out what genetic augmentations they’ve been integrating since the war of 2060. I would say we’ve come up aces.”
The admiral wished he could share the presidents enthusiasm, but the Neptunions attempting something like this within a week of the interplanetary news announcement of another terraform attempt. He couldn’t believe it was a coincidence. Or that simply infiltrating Dione was their ultimate intent.
“Mister president, I’m heading down to R&D, to find out about the device the Neptunion was carrying.”
