So, is it everyday that time is rewinded so that the guy can fix stuff? If so, then why did the main character experience the “before”-reality this time?

I like being utterly confused and not at the same time.

Theory – he experienced it because he was new, and whatever the Controller is putting in the coffee hadn’t taken effect yet. :)
(I have no idea, actually.)

Believe it or not, I do have a rationale for why he (man, I thought the protagonist was a she there for a while) is seeing the replay and even hinted at it. But, rather than taint the pool, I’ll let the next author explain it…or not.

I like the idea that the good employee is the one who keeps things running smoothly, but never gets attention for it.
