Fighting Fate
She so very much didn’t want to let go. The sensation was like gliding down a sliding board, gaining speed, but with the ride getting smoother every minute, until there was no sense of gravity at all. It was beautiful, and exhilarating all at the same time.
She thought it strange, though. She always expected the bright light people talked about on those late night talk shows. Instead, it was dark. But not visually, worse. More like her mind couldn’t stay focused on anything. It was seductive, and more than a little scary.
Like swimming against a deep, warm, steady flowing river, she was too tired now. She had to let go, and be carried away by the current. She knew she would never be back, and again she was surprised. Surprised at how sad she felt. Everyone always talked about being at peace, but she couldn’t claim to be.
