Interesting story, made me think of a couple who might be “role-playing” or having an affair. The last sentence hit a little hard, and forced me to re-read it. IMHO, it could use a slight rewrite to help it flow easier.

The last sentence was a bit hard to read. I had to re-read it. It doesn’t seem to flow well. IMHO, the last sentence could use a re-write.
