Why is there a police officer? I thought your father died of an illness in the hospital.

I’m tinkering on the sequel to this part, which should make more sense. Law/ordinance is that if someone dies at home and was alone for more than X hours, a police officer is required to show up to ensure there was no foul play.

Really glad you’re getting a chance to write about this here… this is compelling, superbly written stuff.
