The Magic. (Part Deux)
… Well I’ve thought about it. That’s a vast understatement, actually, I’ve practically obsessed over it. It’s like that question they always ask you at the doctors office- “Have you ever had thoughts of suicide?” -Is that a joke?
The thing is, it doesn’t really matter what you believe. You still have to come to terms with the way the world is. We all know the statistics. Everyone you make a connection with will eventually meet the same fate. Your belief in God does not negate the existence of war, poverty, disease, and death, any of it. JESUS DOES NOT MAKE YOU FLAME RETARDANT.
And that’s the magic.
No matter who we are, or what we believe, there is something within all of us that cannot be overcome by knowledge. Because regardless of what we know, we keep seeking out those connections. We keep trying to make things better even when all the evidence suggests that they will only get worse.
That’s what keeps me going.
That, and Ben and Jerry’s Cake Batter ice cream.
