Sunset burns a sideways fire, halted at our feet
as we stand on the dune barrier, sand grass surrounding.
Long shadows merge with our fingers, touching
one at a time, slipping between slowly-
exhaling the breath of the ocean, the waves hushing themselves
in our silence, as we see each other.

your fingers trailing behind, searching me out;
kissing the small of your back, cupping your hand
bringing it to my lips as I follow-

Our paired footfalls merge;
our elemental heartbeat
