I really like the whole ‘you are me’ line of logic, even if his monologue felt a bit long for a guy with no teeth and heavy blood loss. The lye may have been crossing a line. Still, the whole turn-about logic reminded me of my Wolf and Peter series from a while back (started with The Schlub and the Decent’).
