Very nicely imaged. I’m glad you chose the perspective of one who is dozing, not quite asleep more aspects to treat that way. General tone is a good match to mine. I feel like they go together.

Nice jump off from the original to switch perspectives. That fourth paragraph started with a kind of jumbly sentence. I really liked the ending and its promise of future adventures.
