This is a day long in the future, when we have discovered, on other planets, those races that are the subject of our ancestor’s tales. Many of them felt as we did, bewildered and excited to meet that which we had only heard legends regarding.

But we found many other creatures and societies too, many of whom did not react so kindly to our presence, or that of anyone else.

For this purpose, to defend ourselves, we used our expanding knowledge of genetics and technology to make our warriors equal to or supassing of any other race we came across in any ability.

The trouble was, we hadn’t met them all yet.
