Very intense and a good job being ‘in the moment for this one’. I’m going to nit-pick now. I think the order, based on the books from the period I’ve read, would be ‘fix bayonets’. The sentence that ends with ‘Long Island’ got a bit odd. Typo maybe? Sorry, enough nitpicking, just trying to be helpful and all. I really like in the period and the feel of war this is. Feels very true to life in feeling.
Nit pick all you like. The only way to improve is to chip away and remove the things that detract from the story.
I’ve made some adjustments.
And the command “fix bayonets” is what is used to put the bayonets on the end of the muskets. from a brief research on the web the closest command i could find to bring the bayonets into attack position is charge bayonet. From there I made the assumption that an order to advance would be given.
I could be wrong on this and despite some accusations, I never actually served in the revolutionary war. I was too young at the time
