Yes, it’s possible. A reactionless drive is actually theoretically feasible if you work with a violation of Lorentz symmetries applied in a specific way. (The article was the MIT Tech Review blog, and I justify my spacecraft in my forthcoming graphic novels using this approach.) As you’ve stated, however, the oxygen requirements would be astronomical, and you’d have to have some freakishly big radiators, as well as a heck of a lot of coal, giving you an insanely large R (propellant-to-mass ratio). One wonders whether or not you’d be able to apply the resultant waste heat to crack down the resultant CO₂ into carbon and oxygen.
