Very real feeling moment of derealization in the first paragraph. Then I liked the irony in the second paragraph. Then you lost me in the third paragraph, though it sounds a bit like a real psych/neuro condition that can occur with stroke.
The first paragraph gave me an impression of a woman standing in a jewelry store while it exploded around her, yet somehow didn’t effect her directly. And then the snap back to reality in the second paragraph, then the revelation of the woman who doesn’t recognize herself after her divorce. Strong stuff.
Oh, and if you ever go to Target or some similar dept. store, you’ll see the rotating racks. You spin them to see what’s on every side. Hence the spinning in the first paragraph… probably sounded more like an explosion though. :-)
