I agree with Coccinella that this is almost a zen like parable. The only way to defeat That Which Shall Not Be Named is to just push through it.

I love that you described the paper as accusing. I feel like that all the time, but never thought to vocalize it. Lately, however, I don’t get writers block. I write all the time, I just don’t think any of it is good enough.

I remember once reading about the biggest thing about being a writer was a German term meaning something like “having your arse on the seat”. It means that even if you are not writing something you need to make the time and get your arse in the seat, and eventually work will get done.

I’ve searched and searched for that German word, but still cannot find it, but one day I will. I agree with the theory, but it still doesn’t make the writing easier when it won’t seem to come.
