Background (I)

Ethan persuades me to go with him somewhere that wasn’t the strip club tonight. I’m starting to get the feeling he doesn’t like this whole prostitute thing.

“Where are we going?” I ask. We’re walking on the empty streets of the city, his hand holding mine, like we’re a couple.

“I want to take you somewhere were we can talk,” I roll my eyes. Ethan and this talking thing. He stops in front of a 24 hour diner and I don’t complain because I’m starving.

“I hope its on you,” I half joke. He chuckles and we enter the diner. He takes us to the farthest table for two and we’re attended to immediately.

“Can I have the steak meal?” he asks.

“Make that two,” I put in. She smiles at us and walks away. “What is it that you want to talk about?”

“Me,” he says.

“What?” I ask confused.

“Stacie,” he begins, “I really like you and I think thats why I want to trust you. So you can feel like you can trust me.”

“Where are you going with this?”

“I want to share my dark history with you.”
