Ficly

soon

For soon I will grow older
Much older than I am
And finally, I’ll get to see
Behind the master plan
For of course, here, it’s different
It’s a dog eat dog kind of place
You must eat or you’ll be eaten
They will get up in your face
I can hear a thousand echoes
Wails of brothers, long ago
Who passed at an age too young to tell
Where they are going to go
And the lonely strays that roam the streets
What are they going to do?
Endlessly smelling the unforgiving ground
Looking for a morsel or two
And the lonely women who loved and lost
Sell cigars to make ends meet
I’m sure they dream of used to be
Their teenage years at least
This place, it will consume you
If you aren’t very cautious
It isn’t hard to get lost in thought
And these thoughts make you nauseous
So string lights upon your barbwire fence
It’s Christmastime in Hell
Don’t look both ways before you cross the street
And pray you’ll live to tell
