In the First Inning

God loves baseball. The Almighty has never missed a game, and not just Major Leaguers like the Yankees, Giants or even the Cubs. God has seen tee ball, little league, pony league, high school, college and the farm clubs. God has seen every game ever.

Take Garland Buckeye, for example, you probably don’t know who he was, even if you are a real baseball buff. But God knows. God knows that Buckeye was a large pitcher hailing from Heron Lake, Minnesota who tried out for or played with the Senators, Indians, and Giants from 1918 to 1928. Buckeye also made appearances with several minor league clubs up through 1931 before eventually joining the National Football League. The huge hurler had his best Major League Season in 1925, when he went 13 and 8 for the Cleveland Indians of the American League. That year Buckeye had an earned run average of 3.65 with 49 strikeouts . God saw every start.
