What He Couldn't Say

“I’ve seen too many politicians and generals sitting around waiting for permission to do what they know needs to be done. It’s a regular cluster fuck. There are too many bad guys with political influence running around in this country. The Iraqi Government is afraid of ruffling the feathers of some people if they were to act decisively. Hell, so is the US government now.”

“I can’t tell you what to do. You aren’t in the chain of command. If you were I would have to tell you to sit tight and wait for orders.” He paused for a moment as if considering. “I can’t tell you that there is a pistol on the floor next to the driver seat of that Hummer. I can’t tell you that there is a cell phone with GPS next to it. I can’t tell you that this whole area is about to be locked down tighter than a rats sphincter in the next few minutes.”

“But I can tell you that if someone were able to confirm what we suspect are the targets we can use all the assets we have to hit it. And we have a lot of assets.”
