Sage advice always hits where it hurts most

Have you ever played the game ‘Ouch’?

It’s this game where you sit in a circle. Let’s say I have A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H sitting in a circle. Whenever A’s name is called, he will have to hit B’s lap. Like really hard. B has to bear it soundlessly while C has to say ‘Ouch’ for B. After this, D has to laugh at B and then E calls out another person’s name and the game starts again.

Don’t you think ‘Ouch’ is like receiving advice? It hits where it hurts the most but you benefit from it. For the game, you play to win, for the winner gets a prize. For life, you play to improve, for you want to get ahead in life.

I thank my instructor for giving me sage advice when I least wanted to hear it. I was having a bad day then. I got reprimanded for being late and then led my team on a suicide mission when I stubbornly refused to heed any team members’ advice.

He got his head bitten off by me. But Robert, I thank you for risking my wrath to get that into my thick hide of a brain.

Thank you.
