If you ever find yourself looking at the wrong end of a gun, pray that it is a bad man holding it.

You see, it will be murder. Even a bad man knows that. The most important difference to the person on the wrong end is that a good man cares about this, while for any number of reasons a bad man would not.

A bad man will, unless there are other concerns present, try to explain why he feels that your death is of benefit to him. In this case, you are granted a limited chance to discuss. Perhaps you will be able to argue successfully.

A good man, however, will have nothing to say. He will kill you without a word. Perhaps he may feel guilty over it, but he has nothing to say to you that will make it any better. If he says anything at all, it is rarely more than an apology.

I’m looking down at you right now, and I know that you’re not in luck. The gun is in my hand, and I know where I stand.

“I’m sorry. I wish it didn’t have to end this way.”

I pull the trigger and reflect on what I have done.

Who knew than in 1024 characters you could alter my view on the world in some way? never thought about it like that. Absolut parfait :)

  2. Avatar Mostly Harmless

    That really is something.

A thoroughly enjoyable, thought-provoking read that could so easily be the first page of a gripping novel, or indeed the opening monologue of a film noir!

Bravo with this – gifted writing – MH :)

Well done man :) This honestly has to be one of my favourite Ficlies from you.

A very dark look into the mind of a killer.

  4. Avatar Krulltar

Nicely done…nothing more to add because the other comments covered it.

Legit. Mostly Harmless nailed it – as I read this, I pictured it being narrated by someone out of Sin City… black-and-white, driving rain, etc.
