Avatar Author: Lady Venuquin Still fragile. Still compassionate. Still hopeful. Read Bio

You may feel alone when you are falling asleep, and every time a tear rolls down your cheeks. Each time you walk into a crowded room without me by your side and whenever you hear our song.

But I know that your heart belongs to someone you have yet to meet, and someday you will be loved. You’ll be loved like you never have known. And it will be damn near perfect.

Memories of me will seem more like bad dreams. Just a series of blurs, like I never occurred. You’ll forget the colour of my eyes, the tilt of my smile and the way I say your name. You’ll forget how it feels to be held in my arms and how I made you feel so special.

Someday you will be loved.

And it will be better than anything before. Better than anything you have ever known.

Essentially, this kind of story should come across as a bit of a tear-jerky cheese-fest, but I think there’s more substance with this one than meets the eye.

The whole tone of the piece was intriguing – are these the words of a dead lover? Trying to encourage but ultimately tinged with regret and sadness that perhaps one day you’ll be forgotten?

The thought of somebody loving someone so much that they tell them another relationship is going to be ‘better than anything before’ is sophisticatedly heartbreaking…

The touches of angst within the piece might split people, but on balance, I really enjoyed it, and actually felt quite emotionally connected to the narrator by the end – cool beans! MH :)

Resigned is the word that comes to mind.

I was caught by the first nine words, and the rest continued in the same way.
