Dead Dreams

Avatar Author: Tad Winslow "If you don't work nothing will." Maya Angelou Read Bio

I made a uniform

Out of a unicorn

And crowned my head with its horn.

Then I gave the ace of cakes a taste—

Spooning through the glaze

Of chocolate spades

And heart-shaped blood

Dripping from the tip

Of my frosting covered club.

    How wonderfully weird.

Weird in a kind of surreal, hallucinogenic way as opposed to freaky, run-for-your-life weird.

I had to read it a couple of times to try and get at it, but what I love is the mixture of the childishly innocent and brutally sinister – on a literal level I can almost see this is a child’s birthday party – unicorns and cakes and the like, but then there’s this deliciously deadly undertone…

Very interesting indeed, combining some lovely imagery with a tantalising suggestiveness – MH :)

Words that mesmerise. Plucking imagery from Alice to bring down the house of clubs.

yum! i agree with the alice metaphor, this is dream-like nonsense indeed, but so well described!

  4. Avatar Horrorfan13

I agree with all the above. It is a wonderfully, evil little tidbit.
